Spay-Neuter Assistance Programs Offers Microchipping Services

Margie Beegle Sales of Houston, Texas, is a leading estate sales and appraisal company with more than 20 years of estate management history and a focus on professional reliability. Beyond its normal range of services, Margie Beegle Sales regularly contributes resources and supplies to the Spay-Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP). SNAP offers a number of wellness services to animals and owners that includes microchipping and microchip scanning.

Microchips serve as an alternative or addition to pet identification (ID) tags by providing a separate means to identify a lost pet and reunite them with their owners. These tiny computer chips, which reside inside a sterilized capsule, are injected by a veterinarian beneath the animal’s skin. Chips within the capsule transmit an ID number when scanned that veterinarians and shelter staff can use to identify the animal’s owner.

Most veterinary clinics and animal shelters can scan for microchips, and some will even complete the procedure for animals that do not already possess a chip. Microchipping procedures offered by SNAP use the companion animal ID microchip manufactured by Datamars, the company that pioneered the standard for ISO companion animal chips.
